Red-Headed Ash Borer - Neoclytus acuminatus - male - female

Red-Headed Ash Borer - Neoclytus acuminatus - Male Female
Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA
August 12, 2009
Size: Approx. 1/2" to 5/8" long
Observed while pulling weeds, around 3pm, temperature near 80, full sun. Insects crawled onto paper bag, and were "corralled" temporarily for pictures. The went under the bag when left alone, and I did not see where they went after that.
