Eastern Carpenter Bee? - Bombus griseocollis

Eastern Carpenter Bee? - Bombus griseocollis
Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA
August 13, 2009
Size: 20mm
This individual was among bumblebees on some bergamot flowers. It dwarfed the other bees. The abdomen was dark and faintly striped, as shown. At first I thought it was a huge bumblebee. It was so heavy that it clung upside down to the flowers. I think it might be a female Eastern Carpenter Bee. Can someone confirm the ID?

I think you're right. I can certainly see the brown belt around the abdomen, but I'll wait for another opinion.

Thanks for the ID. This is the first one of these that I've seen.
