Veined White - Pieris marginalis - male

Veined White - Pieris marginalis - Male
Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon, USA
July 23, 2009
Size: 1+"
I first thought this was a Cabbage White but the sweeping coloration in the upper wing has me confused.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Lately the name of choice for western
Veined Whites is Pieris marginalis. I still think of them as variants of P. napi myself though, but you will find a place for him under the name P. marginalis here. This would be subspecies marginalis.

ID
Pieris napi, Veined White

Veined White
Thanks Mike, I have another photo of a Veined White but only the underside of the wings. The differences helped me miss the ID.
