Hornets Nest - Dolichovespula maculata

Hornets Nest - Dolichovespula maculata
Pickering, Durham Region, Ontario, Canada
August 18, 2009
This nest just popped up in the tree on our front lawn. It appears to be the nest of the baldfaced hornet.

Moved from ID Request.

Really nice shot
of an amazing society of insects. They are indeed bald faced hornets, Dolichovespula maculata

I hope they are not giving you any trouble and you can continue to coexist with them!

They're constantly working
They cause no problem, my flowers are beautiful and there is an absence of flies this year.
