We found this millipede on a rock in a campground near the White Sands National Monument.

This milliped is Orthoporus ornatus (Girard, 1853) (order Spirostreptida: family Spirostreptidae); it is extremely common in the southwestern American deserts and is one of the few millipedes that actually thrives in such arid environments

 
Guam millipede
This looks just like a millipede we found on Guam. Is there some other species that is more likely to be here? The fact that this species does well in arid regions would be helpful in our dry season. I'm not sure how the rainy season affects it.
