Maybe an Orb Weaver - Araneus gemmoides

Maybe an Orb Weaver - Araneus gemmoides
Westminster, Colorado, USA
September 19, 2005
Size: 1.5'
I know nothing about bugs but from what I have read here I believe this is an orb weaver.
I'm not fond of spiders but I didn't kill it. I do want to make sure its not dangerous. If it is infact an orb weaver then I know its not dangerous. It has bumps on its backside.

Yes, Orb Weaver
Yes, this is a female orb weaver, most likely in the Araneus genus, due to the shoulders (or humps) on the abdomen.

Great job in correctly ID'ing it. :)

Thanks
Thanks, looking at the link you posted I found one that looks exactly like it no doubt in my mind that this is it. http://bugguide.net/node/view/27726/bgimage
