How long to see a moth - Manduca

How long to see a moth - Manduca
Wylie, Texas, USA
August 22, 2009
I walked outside this morning and found these guys on my tree and thought they looked pretty cool. There are about 5-6 of them on the tree. I found out online that they are Manduca rustica, The tree is a Chaste tree and I was wondering how long does it take for them to become moths from this point on.

these could be...
Manduca florestan, they fly in south texas though. Perhaps the adult that layed the eggs was a stray. M. florestan is the only species of sphingid that I could find that feeds on Chaste tree (Vitex sp). Maybe some one else has another idea...

Could be anywhere from 1 day - a few weeks for it to make its pupa which will probably be in the soil underneath. The adult will most likely hatch next year in June or July.
