I thought that this might be Chelyoxenus xerobatis http://bugguide.net/node/view/160494/bgimage at first. The collection circumstances fit, but it doesn't look quite right, so I'm thinking maybe Geomysaprinus floridae or an incidental surface sp. I have not gotten it under a scope to see whether the claws are unequal, but they appear equal in the ventral picture that I took of this specimen.

A. Tishechkin: "Geomysaprinus floridae (Horn),
"...Chelyoxenus has a long fragment of 5th dorsal striae within the arc of 4th and sutural ones and doesn't have carinal stria on top of prosternal process"
