Diceroprocta olympusa
I have forwarded this image to several individuals for a "second opinion", a couple of whom are well acquainted with the cicadas of Florida (i.e. R. V. & J.G.). It is the consensus that this is indeed not T. davisi and more congruent with D. olympusa.
For these reasons, I am placing this image under D. olympusa.

I'm more inclined towards Diceroprocta olympusa
Dr. Hamilton,
I agree this cicada has a wide head, however, Floridian Diceroprocta spp. can be characterized by "wide heads". Head width in both D. olympusa and D. biconica can equate and/or slightly exceed the width of the pronotum. Another aspect of both D. olympusa and D. biconica that can be confusing is the presence of the "Z" infuscation of the forewings, typical of Tibicen species, but often absent in other Diceroprocta species.

When I look at this image I notice a few things that are less typical of davisi and more so of D. olympusa.
1) Long wings relative to body
2) Lack of smoky infuscation along the apical wing veins of the forewings giving these veins a heavier black appearance (esp. in Floridian material)
3) A tendency towards a dorso-ventrally flattened appearance ("flat back")
Having spent a significant portion of my life in central Florida, I have an intimate familiarity with the cicadas of that immediate region and am not comfortable with T. davisi as the id for the cicada in this pic.

Diceroprocta olympusa!
Brightening up the dark areas in the picture with photoshop helps in the decision.

Diceroprocta olympusa!
Ronnie,
You agree this is likely D. olympusa?
It doesn't look like any T. davisi I have seen in Florida or elsewhere for that matter,...but does mesh well with D. olympusa.
I'd appreciate it if you'd take one more look at this image and get back with me.
Thanks,
bill
