Interesting…
Ilona, this looks very similar to a very rarely encountered subfamily of ichneumons. If you can recall the circumstances of this capture (where you found it initially, plant(s) found on, if any, or even if nearby, etc.), this might confirm my suspicions.

All I remember about capturing this wasp was that it was in low underbrush. Can't remember which plant since there is a mixture of goldenrod, honeysuckle, hickory and numerous vines which I usually sweep through to see what shows up. This is in a small conservation park where I usually find lots of insects. I do have quite a few photos of this wasp since I thought it was interesting and it was rather tame. If you think any other photos would help in identification, I can post more.
