Acmaeodera decipiens LeConte
They're finally done. Rick Westcott det these guys as Acmaeodera decipiens LeConte. He thought by the pic that they may be A. bowditchi, and them A. mixta, but I have those and they did not look the same to me. Sorry it took me so long to send these guys off for id.

I think we have several
very similar ones as A. solitaria. Can you explain the difference please, Joshua?

I wish that I could! There re
I wish that I could! There really isn't a good key for identifing Acmaeodera. Most of the Acmaeodera I get from areas west of the Mississippi River are sent to Rick Westcott for id. There are just so many of them and they are so variable in patterns and even several have subspecies. Ted MacRae may tell us the difference if he runs across these comments. I will try to ask Rick also since he id'ed the specimen. Wish I could help more.

Well, this is great
This took alot of time and work but it can be so useful to identify to species --- something difficult to do through BugGuide per se. BugGuide is growing fast, but maybe we can look forward 20 years and imagine a robust on-line bug resource. I'll see what I can do to get a guide page for this species. My thanks to Joshua Basham and his associates. Contributions from experts are so valuable. Thank you.

genus is correct, but
I've moved this back to the genus page. I don't believe this is A. pulchella - the pronotum of this speciman with it's distinct medial depression looks wrong. Compare to..

Good eye
Thanks so much for policing submissions. I was trying to not clog-up the ID Request area. Hopefully this submission will prevent the same mistake in the future.
