Critter Gitter

Critter Gitter
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
August 23, 2009
Size: -
This is a contraption I call the Critter Gitter. It can be made easily and cheaply ($5-$10). It consists of a tupperware bowl (I used a 4" square one for this one), a length of pvc, a pvc coupling, a couple of springs, a couple of small hinges, a clothes pin (the trigger), and a length of cord.

The advantage of the Critter Gitter over a net is that entrapment is instant, safe, and secure. Also it closes extremely fast so escape is almost impossible. It's great for bees, wasps, hornets, spiders, scorpions, and many other critters that bite or sting and prevents you from ever coming in contact with them, and it can even catch small snakes and lizards. But it works just as well for just about any other type of insect or small critter. It can even be used to reach over or into water or up into trees and normally unreachable areas.
