Dolomedes Fishing Spider with Dragonfly - Dolomedes

Dolomedes Fishing Spider with Dragonfly - Dolomedes
Barrie, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada
Size: 2 inches incl. leg span
I found this fishing spider in the tall grasses by Kempenfelt Bay.

I wonder if an i.d. on the dragonfly is possible?? I know it's been decapitated, but I'm betting someone out there knows....

nice
That's an interesting shot! Have to wonder how the spider got the head off. I don't know much about fishing spider habits, but I assume they consume things in typical spider slurping fashion vs. how insects eat. I'd expect this if the predator were a wasp, ant, beetle, but seems odd for a spider. Very bizarre. :)

Maybe...
it was personal. : )

Dolomedes
Yes this is a Dolomedes, fishing spider.

Thank You!!
