C. impressifrons vs. C. collaris...
was what I came up with from Lindroth (The Ground Beetles of Canada and Alaska), though I'm leaning towards C. collaris due to the darker overall colour.

Is "leaning towards"
a sufficient statement for assigning to species guide page? Just wondering. Tim, I think you got it reversed. Because of uniformly dark brown dorsum, I favor
Clivina fossor
over
C. collaris
which characteristically has yellowish to reddish elytra. This is not
C. impressefrons
.
