Based on Triplehorn's key and
Based on Triplehorn's key and description I would place this in Zopherus xestus Triplehorn, 1972. The flattened aprical tubercles and vague elytral bumps and lumps and typical. It would be great to have a ventral view of the terminal sternite, but... This is also from the type locality for Z. xestus. In his discussion of variation he mentions that he did have specimens that were all black and smooth.
