Orange Stink Bug? - Apoecilus cynicus

Orange Stink Bug? - Apoecilus cynicus
Strawberry Reservoir, Wasatch County, Utah, USA
August 27, 2009
Size: about 1/2 inch
I was surprised to see this one slurping a caterpillar, or maybe a beetle larva. It has some spots on the pronotum (just thought I'd try out that word--may be the wrong body part). It dragged this poor little creature down through the bushes to get away from me. Didn't drop it once. Is this a regular old stink bug or a known predatory stink bug? Addition: After just Googling "orange stink bug" I found "Podisus". Could it be that?

Nice
Nice images, great find: I believe this is a species of Apateticus, one of the predatory stink bugs.

Thanks, Eric.
I know I'm not supposed to post "thanks", but thanks anyway.

LOL!
You're most welcome:-)
