Can you identify this bug? - Pelonium leucophaeum

Can you identify this bug? - Pelonium leucophaeum
Oviedo, Seminole County, Florida, USA
August 28, 2009
Size: 1/2 inch
I found this bug crawling on my bed when I woke up yesterday. I tried to find out what kind of bug it was by looking at pictures on this site but did not find any bugs that look like this one. I'm hoping you can tell me what it is because I had been bitten under my right arm a couple of nights ago by an unknown insect. I'm not sure if this is my attacker...LOL.. But since I still have terrible raised lessions in the area where I was bit, I would like to know. I think I spread any poison throughout the area when I scratched it because when I scratched, it felt like a little bump and now it goes from above my armpit all the way down further down past my arm pit. I will give it a few more days to go away, otherwise I'll have to see a doctor for treatment.

Thanks for your comments
Thanks!! I've been checking all over my bedroom and bed for other bugs and haven't found anythinkg. I was surprised when I found this little guy since I was not looking at that time. I don't believe I have bed bugs since not only have I not seen any droppings or bugs, but my husband has not gotten bit and our kids have come into bed with us in the middle of the night and also have not gotten bit.

Moved from ID Request.

i dont think this little beet
i dont think this little beetle is your culprit as to bites,, they have no poisen and the bite of small beetles is just a pinch, id check the room good for spiders and capture any i found, get em ided if i was you (tupperware them) and if you have to go to the doc take them with..also check the windowsills for flying things.

Also check for bedbugs.
They don't fly; however they do occur under mattresses, behind beds, between couch cushions, etc.

Looks like...
Most likely Pelonium leucophaeum (Klug), but I don't know if any other species occur in Florida.
