It's a pretty save bet

pronotum and head make it look exactly like mine that was Ided by someone with experience and it's from CA - R. thoracicus

Assasin Bug?

I'm not an expert, but looks a lot like Rasahus thoracicus (Western Corsair) to me:

Nice looking bug, Natalie -- what a treat to see! If my guess is correct, yours would be the first submission for this species from CA.
