Darner - Aeshna verticalis

Darner - Aeshna verticalis
Rochester, Monroe County, New York, USA
August 31, 2009
These things are tough, even with a decent field guide.

Moved from Mosaic Darners.

Moved from Dragonflies.

Moved from ID Request.

I believe, from the lateral thoracic stripes, that that's a female Green-striped Darner (Aeshna verticalis). The overall impression matches what I've seen of this species here in NH.

Thanks Thomas
My field guide has a page devoted to the lateral thoracic stripes of the darners, but I can't make heads nor tails out of it.
