Tarantula ID Request - Eucteniza relata

Size: approx 3 inches incl legs

I live in the country and found this spider on my front lawn right near the house at 5:30pm after significant rain. It didn't run and when I approached it, it reared up before I even saw it. A few hours later it was still there, tucked up tight.

Because of the location found

Because of the location found and size of the spider, I would say it is a male Eucteniza rex, I hear females can be very large, I would like to find one and breed it ...whoohoooo!

Critter died

Unfortunately I kept watching for movement and it appears this guy was short on time for this world. His carcass is now on my front patio. I found his twin in the backyard the day after very much alive.

He's wild and free

I thought about capture but alas he's still roaming somewhere in my front yard. Scared the daylights out of me, but then of course I ran for the camera!
