 Picture-winged Fly - Tritoxa flexa

Picture-winged Fly - Tritoxa flexa
Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
September 24, 2005

T. flexa
I am being bold and separating the two groups of eastern Tritoxa based on coloration--this seems to be valid, based on regional checklists, which list two species for the east. The black ones would appear to be the Black Onion Fly, Tritoxa flexa, and the brownish ones would appear to be the other eastern species Tritoxa incurva. References are in the guide pages for the genus and these two species.
