These treehoppers were being tended to by ants up on a black locust branch.

Host plant
After looking at the original pictures, I think they were on black locust. It even looks like a small thorn in the pictures.

Vanduzea arquata
Interesting - they are supposed to be only on black-locust, although there are sporadic records from cottonwood and oak, so maybe they aren't as fussy about their host plant as we thought.
