Nearly unspotted Nine-spotted -
Coccinella novemnotata
West of Fort Apache, Navajo County, Arizona, USA
September 1, 2009
There were three on milk weed. The male of the mating pair (which I left undisturbed) had clearer spots, the female nearly none. The markings of this third individual are in between.

Nice
all the Coccinella I have collected in AZ were the introduced, N. septempunctata. Nice to see the native species!

Beautiful - congratulations!
Good eye for spotting and identifying these rare beetles! Very nice photos of this individual, and it's great that you didn't disturb the mating pair, even though it must have been tempting to photograph them. I hope the mating was successful and the female lays a lot of eggs. Such good news!
