An interesting individual
I've seen similar ones from central Texas (and occasional ones in Florida look somewhat similar too). I'm not sure what they all are, but they are distinctive, and they do look a lot like P. appalachiensis. They also resemble Mexican Tigers Papilio alexiares garcia.
