Milkweed Tussock Moth Caterpillars - Euchaetes egle

Milkweed Tussock Moth Caterpillars - Euchaetes egle
DuPage County, Illinois, USA
September 6, 2009
Size: 11mm
There were about 100 of these caterpillars devouring a milkweed plant. They were lined up at the eaten edge of the leaves, top and bottom - a real munching machine. Quite a sight to see!

Nice picture!
These are Milkweed Tussock Moth caterpillars. One of just a handful of bugs that can tolerate the milkweed toxins.

Thanks
Tom.
