Formicidae 9.02.09 03 - Lasius
Donaldson Draw, Ferry County, Washington, USA
September 2, 2009
A number of tiny ants with a nest entrance at the base of a young Populus species tree along the road to Donaldson draw. The wasp appeared to be predating on the ants as they moved around the base of the tree

Moved
Moved from Ants.

The ant is a Lasius sp.,
More likely than preying on the ants, the wasp and the ants were both in search of some sweet product, either from the tree itself, or from honeydew producing insects.
