Earwig - Doru taeniatum - female

Earwig - Doru taeniatum - Female
Auburn, Lee County, Alabama, USA
September 26, 2005
Size: 10-15 mm
I believe this is an earwig but could not match this specimen with images on this site or in texts. Perhaps it is a rove beetle. Comments welcome.

Moved from Doru.

The only other nearctic genus in the Forficulidae (Setocorax) has black setae all over it. The yellow-with-black-stripe-in-the-middle pattern is distinctive for this genus in our area.

Perhaps
a Doru sp? See this site.

Doru
According to this key, the dilated second tarsal segment visible on this specimen narrows it down to the Forficulidae, and it's not Forficula. Without knowing what the other genera look like I can't be positive, but I agree that Doru is a strong possibility.

Handsome,
for an earwig that is.

Earwig
Yeah, I caught one of these small earwigs and I also can't ID it... the yellow stripes seem distinctive
