Strange insect to ID

Strange insect to ID
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
September 10, 2009
This is the first time I have seen this insect and I only managed this one image. And ID and information would be a great help, thank you.

Moved
Moved from Anomaloninae.

Moved
Moved from Ichneumon Wasps.

Anomaloninae
Surely a species of Anomaloninae, but beyond that I can't say.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Ichneumon is correct...
Could be in one of several subfamilies - will need to be reviewed. I would leave at the family level for now.

See reference here.

some kind of Short-tailed Ichneumon Wasp
kind of like this I think.

Wasp ID.
Thank you for your ID Andrew.
