Araneus marmoreus - female

Araneus marmoreus - Female
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
September 25, 2005
This is the typical appearance of this species in Alberta. Quite different from the eastern form. There is a fairly wide variation in color, but the pattern stays fairly constant. About one in 20, or perhaps even less, will be the "eyeball" form, with a large, black, elongated spot in the middle of the abdomen extending back to the posterior end of the abdomen.

Terry,
great photo!
