Formerly considered to be the same species as Gesta gesta (Herrich-Schäffer, 1863), which occurs in the Greater Antilles and from Costa Rica to Argentina.
Explanation of Names
Latin invisus can mean either "detested, hateful" or "unseen, little-seen/rare"
Food
Caterpillars feed on wild indigo (Indigofera).
