Dotted Moth - Leucania adjuta

Dotted Moth - Leucania adjuta
Desoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
September 19, 2009

Moved
Moved from Lesser Wainscot.

M. oxygala has a more even yellow look to it than this, has less black speckling throughout, and doesn't have quite so bold a white streak from the base to the discal spot. L. adjuta is also much more abundant in the South than M. oxygala is.

Thanks for sorting through old pages.
Does this look like a Lesser Wainscot Moth (Mythimna oxygala)?

It does!
I knew it looked familiar--I thought maybe Armyworm, but I checked that and it didn't look quite right. If I'd only backed up to genus level I would have found it!
