Imperial Moth - Hodges#7704 (Eacles imperialis)
when they are looking for a place to pupate they change colors..and heres the moth

Saturniidae
Looks like a giant silkworm of some sort to me. Vaguely resembles Eacles imperialis

 
Imperial moth caterpillar
Many thanks to all who replied to my request. Imperial Moth caterpillar makes very good sense because I have gotten very nice photos of one near the very same spot where I found the cat.
