Cocoon -
Autoplusia egena
Alameda County, California, USA
September 7, 2009
A caterpillar joined two leaves of a pole bean to make a loose cocoon, first noticed on Sept. 7 and probably not there earlier. The leaf on the right had dropped from its stem and was drying up.
