Size: Body approximately 1"
Any insight is appreciated- I've never seen anything like this little guy and just thought (s)he was beautiful. I have several other photos if needed to ID.

looks like the Banded Tussock Moth Caterpillar
Halysidota tessellaris. Here's a yellow one like yours and a more white one that I found.
