Explanation of Names
Specific epithet from Latin lacustris meaning "[of the] lakes" for its discovery in the Great Lakes region.
Size
Forewing length 8.4 to 9.4 mm (Miller, 1976).
Range
Records from Iowa to southern Quebec, south to Connecticut, Kentucky and Texas. (1)
Holotype female: Michigan, Ingham Co., (Julian P. Donahue, 12 June 1966).
See Also
Similar exteriorly to C. populana Busck, C. flexiloqua Heinrich, C. garacana (Kearfott), and C. multilineata (Kearfott) but differs in genitalia. C. lacustrina resembles the western C. lautiuscula and the eastern C. gallaesaliciana, but differs from both these strikingly patterned species by its subdued forewing pattern and larger size (Miller, 1976).
