Horned Passalus With Unknown Guests - Odontotaenius disjunctus

Horned Passalus With Unknown Guests - Odontotaenius disjunctus
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
September 22, 2009
Size: approx. 35 mm
I found this running across my back yard Tuesday evening. Hard to miss. Whilst photographing it for posterity I noticed the smaller animals lodged in the mandibles. On closer inspection, there were more along with what look like eggs around the joint of the head and thorax, top and bottom. Are these parasites? Sorry the photos aren't clearer, the beetle was hardly the most willing subject.
