Fantastic shot!
With spring coming to West Virginia, I'm just getting back into this. I'm browsing your photos and this is one couldn't be much better. Are you using a ring light? Where do you set the aperture for shots like this?

 
Hey Tim,
Thanks for the kind words. I don't use a ring light, and the camera is auto-adjusting for the aperture. (I'm really a point-n-shoot guy).

My equipment is listed on my bio page, just click my name to view it. Basically with a shot like this, I would angle the flash to fill in the shadows...

This is the only shot I have of it with the head at this angle, it was watching something flying around...

Diogmites
Excellent eye color capture. Hard to see the thoracic markings but they look too faint to be the common Florida species D. esuriens. Florida also has D salutans and D crudelis. I don't know how variable crudelis is but it is supposed to have only faint brown stripes paired centrally.
