This photo shows elongate, brown ichneumon cocoons within a lymantriid cocoon (probably Orgyia) that was attached to a witch hazel leaf. I collected them and took them back to Vermont with me, where they eclosed a few weeks later over a period of several days. I have many more images of these wasps--not better quality, but from every conceivable angle--so please let me know if another view would be helpful. (I may even still have a specimen, come to think of it...)
