Spotted Tussock Moth - Lophocampa maculata

Spotted Tussock Moth - Lophocampa maculata
Enumclaw, Unincorporated King County, Washington, USA
August 22, 2009
Size: 35mm
Does anyone know what this furry caterpillar will turn into? It's probably a moth, but I have no idea what species.

I just thought I should add that this was not in a cage or anything...the mesh the caterpillar is crawling on is part of the soffet vent on the house. So the caterpillar is basically hanging upside down over my head looking down at me.
