Bee Fly - Exoprosopa decora

Bee Fly - Exoprosopa decora
Kennebunk, Maine, USA
July 31, 2002
another view of BeeFly. Not a horsefly (Tabanus)

bee fly ID
Was this really taken in Maine? It looks like Exoprosopa jonesi, a California / Baja endemic.

ID correction
What was I thinking? This is E. decora, an Eastern relative of E. dorcadion.

field marks
What are the distinguishing characters of this species? I couldn't find any images or info on the web, and would like to add some ID info to the Guide page for future reference. Thanks.
