Large Spider - Argiope aurantia

Large Spider - Argiope aurantia
Virgunua Beach, Virginia, USA
January 10, 2009
Size: Body: +/- 1.25

Really in January?
Was this really seen in January? We don't even get them here in Texas in January. One of the reasons I moved to Texas from Virginia is that I was tired of going from December to March without any bugs or butterflies. This spider is fat and healthy like she's been eating all winter. Any ideas how this might have happened?
