Sad to say this was found on my kitchen floor - ewwww! Usually female roaches are careful to lay their egg cases in a safe place, apparently. This was stuck to the back of a piece of masking tape, so I can only think it got stuck there by accident. Identified as
Blattara orientalis from the University of Nebraska's manual (see
image), plus I have seen a couple of big shiny adults in my house in the middle of the night (one downside of having a newborn baby). A new species for the guide - but I'm not sure I can bring myself to raise these deliberately!
