Cicindela scutellaris scutellaris - Cicindela scutellaris
Empress, Alberta, Canada
August 12, 2005
This is a new subspecies and needs a new guide page. It is not often that we in Alberta can claim to have the most attractive sub-species going, but this sure is a good case!

It's so pretty! : )

Created and moved...
See if you can provide a link with some info on this subspecies so I can add it to the guide page. Beautiful!

Tiger Beetle book
I would suggest that you get John Acorn's book Tiger Beetles of Alberta (The University of Alberta Press). It is a thoroughly enjoyable book to read, and has lots of information on this species. You should probably add it into the book section on tiger beetles if it is not already there.

Books
Actually just this past week the comprehensive and brand new Field Guide to the Tiger Beetles of North America came out. Pearson and Knisley. Here is the giant Amazon link.
