Midge ID - Colobostema varicorne - Male
Norfolk, Virginia, USA
September 27, 2009
Size: ~5mm

Moved from Flies.

Is has some characters of Simulium but the veins are not right (e.g. forking of M). It also resembles a general Bibionidae but has not enough crossveins.

Any other angles?
Do you have any more pictures? I see traits of three or four families but it probably does not belong to more than one.

Moved from ID Request.

Maybe in Bibionomorpha. I'll check later.
