Puffball Beetle - Caenocara

Puffball Beetle - Caenocara
Windham, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
Size: 2mm or so
Here is a better image of this species than any others I've posted. I still am unable to get the entire beetle in focus in one shot however.

I had about 100 of these guys emerge from puffballs I had collected 9/11/05. Think about that next time you chomp into a tasty butter-sauteed puffball slab. I had another photo shoot and turned them all loose.

Confirmed
Hi Jim!
cleft eyes, typical for Caenocara, are perfectly visible on this pic!

Cleft eyes
Good trait to know!
