Caterpillar or grub?

Size: ~ 2"
Here is another photo I took yesterday of the larva next to a folded-in-half One Dollar bill. I'm submitting it as it may clarify just what size it is.
We didn't have a ruler or measuring tape, so made due with the dollar bill. I didn't include it, as my description under Size: ~ 2" seemed to be enough.

Root borer
This is very likely a grub of a prionid in the family Cerambycidae. I know the family is correct, and few 'bycids other than prionids have grubs that large. Did not know they ate money, though. That is very disturbing....:-)

Make that 3 inches
I don't know what your specimen is, but a dollar bill is six inches long.
