My guess would be Thanatus formicinus (male). A sharp lateral and/or ventral view of the pedipalp would be nice.

Male palpal tibia spines

It appears that it has one dorsal and two prolateral tibia spines which would make it T. striatus? The dorsal abdomen pattern certainly doesn't match what I thought it would look like. See link on the genus page.

I see one prolateral tibia palpal tibia spine and one or two dorsal. T. striatus is too small (2.5 to 4 mm).

Take a look at Dondale & Redner's drawing of the T. formicinus palp (p. 115).

Such nice images -- too bad Arlo can't/couldn't provide a ventral view of the palp.

Well
then that supports your theory of T. formicinus.

Will try to track this specimen down -
I am between houses, the archive is a bit chaotic right now. Can you tell me what "prolateral" means? Is it the same as fronterolateral?

Probably -- it's the same as
Probably -- it's the same as "medial" or "inside view" in this context.

If you are a spider, stick all your limbs straight out to the sides; the forward side (anterior direction on the spider) is the prolateral, and the rear (posterior direction) is the retrolateral.
