Day 19, molt -
Sabulodes aegrotata
Alameda County, California, USA
October 11. This looks like a postmolt scene. The larva is the one on blackberry (sometimes, as here, on the paper lining its container).

Great series of shots on the development of this caterpillar.

Thanks
It's good to know someone's watching.
I'm thinking of removing Day 13. That photo doesn't give much information. If these larvae get as big as some geoms I've seen, it'll be a long series.

Nice series
I don't know which one is Day 13, but probably it would be a good idea to remove it. I am always of the school of "lean and mean" and choose my photos very carefully to show the most with the fewest images. I think that the viewer likes it better that way, too.

Day job
You can find days by mousing over the thumbnails. I removed Day 13 some time ago. I try to use only the photos that show anatomy or behavior of possible interest. Someone may want to know, for instance, how far from maturity a found larva is that looks like one of these photos. I don't know it yet myself.
