Size: 1/4 inch +
Would really like to know what this is. It does not leave a slime trail, and is eating the leaves of the Saskatoon berry. (Amelanchier) I found it on. I know its eating because there was frass in the container this morning. Any help would be appreciated.

this is a sawfly larva -- namely, Pearslug's [Caliroa cerasi]

I'm not an expert, and am not certain....
...but I had found dozens of these on wild rose bushes last fall -- on the same wild rose bushes that had had dozens of Japanese beetles. I wondered at the time if they might have been larvae of Japanese beetles. ????
