Cylindrical Bark Beetle - Bitoma crenata

Cylindrical Bark Beetle - Bitoma crenata
Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA
October 9, 2005
Size: 3mm
Found about 10 of these tiny beetles huddled together under a piece of bark.

Bitoma crenata
Not as easy to see as in your other photos, but antennomere 9 is wider than 8.

Bitoma quadriguttata
In our area, it would be (and looks like) Bitoma quadriguttata.

Bitoma quadriguttata
A comment on one of my other pictures of Bitoma says that the Quebec checklist has this plus Bitoma crenata. But another comment sats the NH checklist only has B.quadriguttata. So it looks like this is B. quadriguttata.
Is there a way to distinguish between the two?
